ROLE SUMMARY
As a Data Ops Engineer you will work within Nulogy's cross-functional data platform team alongside other software developers, agile testers, designers and product managers to provide Nulogy's customers access to their supply chain data. Optimized for mission critical use cases, where even minutes of latency can have a significant impact, Nulogy customers rely on the Data Platform to power dashboards, perform BI analytics and train ML models. The Nulogy Data Platform is built on top of Snowflake and uses Apache Kafka for near real-time data streaming.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate on the architectural design of the Data Platform's pipelines, APIs, testing and validation frameworks, and associated cloud infrastructure.
- Assist with the operational efficiency of the Data Platform in identifying scalability issues with large quantities of data, issues that may result in a loss of data integrity, and Nulogy's underlying Snowflake hosted data warehouse.
- Provide feedback on how both Nulogy and Nulogy's customers can best leverage their data to drive data driven decisions, and potentially machine learning/AI.
- Participate in team on-call rotation.
- Provide technical mentorship to software developers on other teams where source data originates.
- Set standards for (peer reviewed) code quality, design patterns, and development techniques (primarily Python).
- Set standards for code quality, design patterns and development techniques.
- Become an expert in Nulogy’s business domains.
EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Expert in OLAP and OLTP databases and how they differ.
- Expert in tactical approaches to assuring data integrity in data replication/streaming architectures. Kafka/Kafka Connect experience is a plus.
- Expert in Python and building and maintaining tests to support continuous data integrity and the ability to validate data (e.g. finding duplicates, missing columns, invalid data, etc.).
- Experience with building and maintaining data transformation steps as a part of a pipeline.
- Expert in SQL query optimization in finding workarounds and approaches to remove performance bottlenecks within the platform’s pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to provide meaningful contributions to how we can develop this new platform and improve its overall architecture and design.
- +5 years software development experience.
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Experience designing, building and deploying data pipeline infrastructure (e.g. AWS, data replication technologies, data monitoring/health checks, Kubernetes/Helm, Terraform/infrastructure as code, etc.).
- ETL/ELT technologies.
- Amalgamated data/presentation layers aggregating data from multiple sources.
- Awareness of industry trends in data mesh/fabric architectures, data virtualization, etc.
- Analytics/visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
EDUCATION
- A degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred, but we will also consider candidates that meet the experience requirements listed above
