Senior Consultant Relations Manager overview

As a leading provider of financial wellness benefits, Northstar works closely with benefits brokerage firms to support them in guiding their clients through financial benefits selection. As a Senior Consultant Relations Manager, your role will be to develop and nurture relationships with consultants at top brokerage firms, from practice leaders and producers to benefits consultants and account managers. By partnering with consultants at top brokerage firms, you will be responsible for providing education on the financial wellness space and Northstar’s program, communicating Northstar’s value, and offering support during their clients’ benefits evaluation processes. Your role will involve generating leads, developing relationships with prospective clients, and closing new business for the company.

What you'll do:

  • Manage a book of business of top brokerage firms in the United States.
  • Manage the full sales cycle and utilize sales best practices to forecast, nurture, negotiate, and close new business.
  • Schedule and lead dynamic discovery calls and demos with consultants and their clients to deliver the value of Northstar’s solution.
  • Develop compelling messaging that uniquely appeals to consultants to help prioritize financial wellness benefits, in partnership with the Sales Development team.
  • Create, lead, and sponsor presentations to brokerage firms and consultant groups to drive brand awareness, in partnership with the Marketing team.
  • Respond to RFQs and RFPs from consultants on behalf of their clients to communicate our offering and help advance sales opportunities to help progress those leads into sales opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Update and manage Northstar’s presence in vendor databases maintained by your book of brokerage firms.
  • Track KPI metrics such as meetings held, RFQ pipeline value, sourced opportunities, total eligible employees sourced, sourced opportunity win rate, and more.

Who you are:

  • 4+ years experience working with employee benefits selling directly to brokers.
  • You have a strong understanding of the HR and employee benefits space.
  • You are a people person that knows how to foster successful relationships.
  • You have a high degree of clarity in both written and verbal communication and are comfortable giving presentations.
  • You pride yourself in your responsiveness, maintaining high expectations with book of business.
  • You have a sales-mindset and are motivated by bringing your solution to as many new users as possible.
  • You are excellent at prioritization and enjoy roles when no day is exactly the same as the next.
  • You thrive in a fast paced environment focused on rapid growth.
  • You have experience using CRM software and other sales tools to track leads, manage sales deals, and analyze data.
  • You are comfortable traveling to industry events and for in-person meetings (up to 25% of your time).

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $79,687.00 and $108,750.00. This role is eligible for sales incentive pay, the estimated On Target Earnings (OTE) range is between $132,812.00 and $181,250.00. The listed range is a guideline and the final salary will vary based on your skills and readiness for the role assessed during the interview process. In addition to base salary and sales incentive pay, the compensation package includes flexible time off, equity in Northstar, healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, and unlimited access to your own Financial Planner.
