ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced SBCC Content specialist to support in designing and executing content for experiments to drive behavior change and improve health outcomes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

User Research and Needs Assessment:

  • Understand the target population's behaviors, attitudes, and communication preferences through secondary research, literature review, and program evaluation reports.
  • Use insights from multiple needs assessments to inform content development and messaging strategies.

​​Content Development:

  • Create engaging, clear, and culturally appropriate communication materials,  in consultation with public health experts, clinicians, and designers.
  • Draft content with a focus on best practices from social behavior change communication practices for effective health communications messaging. These messages will be delivered through classroom-like settings (e.g. handouts, flipcharts) or digital channels (e.g. Whatsapp, SMS, IVRS.)
  • Tailor messages to address specific health behaviors and target audiences, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
  • Write with the audience in mind so the content and collateral meets the audience where they are at. Our audience are those that access care in public health settings, and may have limited health literacy.
  • Provide final review to ensure content considers storytelling, best social behavior change communication practices, and user research.
  • Interact with experts to create, prepare drafts, and update the health education content of our health communication tools as required for experiments.
  • Liaise with the visual and creative design team to ensure visuals, tone, and other collateral components align with intended messaging.

Experiment Design and Implementation:

  • Support in the design of experiments to test the effectiveness of various SBCC strategies and content.
  • Participate in pre-testing messages and materials with the target audience, as well as post-intervention feedback collection to ensure clarity, cultural appropriateness, and effectiveness, as needed.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare reports, case studies, and success stories to document project outcomes and lessons learned, as needed.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of all SBCC activities and materials.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR 

  • Experience with social behavior change/health communication theory.
  • Experience of at least 6 years in preparing behavior change communication materials to educate communities and public health campaigns.
  • Graduate degree in Health Communication, Journalism or equivalent.
  • Experience in public health, clinical experience, medicine, or other related health field.
  • Strong literature review skills to be able to understand medical terminology and support outputs with in-depth evidence.
  • Excellent document/report writing skills in English to draft initial text and copy for health communications content.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work seamlessly as part of a diverse team including designers, medical experts, and researchers.
  • Close attention to detail while reviewing drafts and finalizing content.
  • Able to work collaboratively with team members and on your own when needed.
  • Able to manage quick feedback streams and iterate communication materials accordingly.
  • Experience working in digital health interventions and designing for diverse digital medium like WhatsApp, IVRS, etc is preferred.
  • Being multilingual - strong proficiency in English, and one Indian language is a must (Hindi/ Telugu/ Kannada/ Marathi preferred).
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Experience with managing fast-paced projects with tight timelines.
  • Comfortable traveling to implementation sites within India, as needed.
