Nomad is seeking an astute Accounting Manager to lead and empower a team of direct reports in onboarding new clients, identifying opportunities for better financial analysis, and maintaining their ongoing books. Are you a masterful project manager who thrives on coaching teammates, and is excited to work with CFOs? Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to a team Controller, the Accounting Manager independently manages large client closes, oversees client closes for all clients in their purview, and thinks critically about client financial analysis and process improvements. Our clients are diverse in their lifecycle and industries, so the Accounting Manager has endless opportunity to align their clients to industry best practice while building efficiency and standardization into their workflows. At a high level, responsibilities for this role include:

  • Collaborating with Accounting Controllers and Associates to support and balance multiple client needs
  • Owning client relationships from on-boarding to ongoing phases, including:
    • Setup new accounting systems and implement new accounting procedures
    • Manage monthly close and financial statement generation
    • Interface with CFOs, Controllers, and Tax Group to prepare clients for audits, reviews, filings, and investor presentations
    • Gain deep understanding of client operations/strategy to regularly provide additional value
    • Maintain Process Handbook and continually update as efficiencies are identified and implemented
  • Leading and coaching team of direct reports to execute high quality, timely client deliverables and professional growth
  • Effectively and clearly communicating with clients and coworkers across various channels
  • Periodically supporting Senior Leadership on strategic initiatives and operational improvements
  • Participating in "tech pilots" to test and implement the latest industry software innovations and productivity tools

About you:

  • You're seasoned:
    • 3+ years of audit experience in public accounting or 5+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
    • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills
  • You're a smarty pants: you have an accounting or finance BS degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (out of 4.0)
  • You're social: you enjoy working/collaborating with teams, and strong communication is critical to your success
  • You're organized & you know the devil is in the details
  • You're flexible and adaptable to new situations, including learning new software
  • You're excited about working with start ups
  • Bonus points:
    • CPA (or in the process of obtaining it)
    • Familiarity with Quickbooks, Xero, Bill.com, Expensify, Stripe, JustWorks, TriNet, and Gusto
