Nomad is seeking a bright Senior Associate to independently manage mid-sized, growing clients and think critically about client financial analysis and process improvements. Reporting directly to a team Manager, a Senior Associate owns mid-sized client closes, collaborates with Associates to initiate close work, and Managers to finalize all close materials. Our clients are diverse and growing, so Senior Associates continually develop their exposure to and skillset with managing rapid growth and changing financial needs. At a high level, this is accomplished through the following: 

  • Collaborating with Accounting Controllers, Managers, and Associates to support and balance multiple client needs
  • Fully owning certain ongoing client relationships while supporting Managers on others. Ongoing work may include:
    • Managing monthly close and financial statement generation
    • Performing data entry and ongoing account reconciliation work
    • Managing bill payments and invoicing for clients in a timely fashion
    • Maintaining and optimizing Client Process Handbook 
  • Leading and coaching Associates to execute client deliverables and grow professionally
  • Effectively and clearly communicating with clients and coworkers across various channels
  • Periodically supporting Senior Leadership on strategic initiatives and operational improvements
  • Participating in "tech pilots" to test and implement the latest industry software innovations and productivity tools

Required Qualifications:

  • This isn't your first accounting job:
    • 1-2 years of public accounting or 3+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
    • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • You're a smarty pants: accounting or finance BS degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (out of 4.0)
  • You're social: you like working/collaborating with teams and strong communication is critical to your success
  • You're organized and you know the devil is in the details
  • You're flexible and adaptable to new situations, including learning new software
  • You're excited about working with start ups
  • Bonus points:
    • CPA (or in the process of obtaining it)
    • Experience using Quickbooks, Xero,, Expensify, Stripe, JustWorks, TriNet, and Gusto
    • Intermediate Excel Skills
