Why become Noggin’s Finance Manager?
Noggin is a fast-paced, yet mature SaaS software developer, going through late stage growth. With key growth milestones under our belt, and the imminent launch of our beautiful, next generation product, we now need a Finance Manager to help scale our finance operations in order to better support our executives as they push the business to the next level of excellence.
It’s fair to say that finance is different in a tech company. Hands on, fast paced, with an executive that’s hungry for rapid-fire answers. As our Finance Manager, you sit in the middle of all of this. You are the owner of the budget, forecast and reporting and so our internal and external stakeholders are all looking to you for accurate and timely answers and insights. Your analysis and opinion matters, and we rely on you to step up, solve problems, and have a voice .And you’ll learn new things; a whole new world of metrics will have you talking LTV, ARR, CPL and CAC, and if you haven’t already conquered the wonderful world of business intelligence, new reporting tools will bring you to the forefront of live data visualisation.
We have an engaged and high performing team, with established accounting practices, and a good budgeting and forecasting process in place. But we’ve grown this out ourselves, and now we’re now looking to baton change into a technically capable person who can lead the team and take our finance operations to the next level..
What does it take to be a Noggin?
We have a very simple, but winning formula. We look for smart, driven people who want to be the best at their game. You self-teach, you’re curious, you’re independent but know how to leverage other resources, and you want to join a team that’s focused on excelling in this competitive world. You have ambitions, and we can clearly see career trajectory in your prior track record. It goes without saying that you tick all of the technical boxes in management accounting so you can comfortably lead the team on this front.
What does success look like in this role?
You can expect to work on month end, P&L and balance sheet reconciliation, variance analysis and reviewing figures from management accounts. But being able to present this information to management is probably the most important aspect of the role, and within 60-90 days we expect you to hit your strides doing so.
By 6 months it’s resoundingly clear that you are a strong communicator, and you’ve taken responsibility for managing the team, and building strong working relationships with the business’s leaders. Your commercial acumen is evident, and people already turn to you for answers knowing that results will be swiftly delivered.
By 9 months you’ve fully established yourself into the role. There’s a strong and reliable rhythm around reporting, data is accurate, and your stakeholders are happy. Your team can lean on you for troubleshooting, and you’re up to speed with jurisdictional differences, timelines and process. Critically you’re familiar now with how we like to lead and manage other noggins, and that “baton change” has truly taken effect.
