Position Overview

We seek an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager of Business Development based in California with a proven track record in selling fertilizers and related products in the agriculture sector. The successful candidate will drive the growth and profitability of our fertilizer product line, identify new business opportunities, and build and maintain solid relationships with key stakeholders in the industry.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Business Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for our fertilizer product line, aligning with Nitricity's goals and objectives.
  2. Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities. Use this information to identify opportunities and threats and adapt the business strategy accordingly.
  3. Client Acquisition: Identify and target potential clients, including food companies, agricultural cooperatives, growers, distributors, and retailers, to expand our customer base. Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline.
  4. Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and potential customers, partners, and key industry players. Collaborate with them to create mutually beneficial partnerships and alliances.
  5. Product Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of our fertilizer and organic product offerings, including their features, benefits, and applications. Effectively communicate this information to customers and partners.
  6. Market Analysis: Support pricing analysis and bidding strategy to originate offtake contracts for Nitricity.
  7. Work with functional groups, consultants, and other stakeholders to drive projects forward and perform quantitative analyses to support development and financing decisions.
  8. Develop innovative financial and offtake structures and improve existing quantitative analysis tools.  
  9. Market Expansion: Explore opportunities to expand our market presence geographically and explore new market segments within the agriculture industry.
  10. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development and R&D, to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies and initiatives.
  11. Reporting: Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance metrics for management review. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven track record of at least 5-7 years in selling fertilizers 
  • Strong network and existing relationships within the agriculture sector
  • Knowledge of the organic farming industry is a plus
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking with a results-driven approach.
  • Leadership experience and ability to manage and motivate a sales team.
  • Analytical skills to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
