Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering & Planning the Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting the planning, engineering, and execution of clean energy projects in metro New York City. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
Roles and responsibilities
- Assist in the development of project plans, including scope and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with the engineering and construction teams to review, and approve project designs, shop drawings and equipment specifications.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise and input throughout the design, permitting and construction phases.
- Assist in the selection and management of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Work alongside external engineers, vendors, and utility to ensure deliverables meet expectations and all parties are aligned on project design
- Monitor external engineer performance and coordinate activities to meet project milestones.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to find effective and timely solutions to technical challenges.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership on engineering processes, designs, and systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve project outcomes.
- Support the enforcement of safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all engineering activities adhere to industry standards and regulations.
- Communicate technical aspects of the project to internal and external parties.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years in engineering, preferably in the renewable energy, energy storage and / or the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of battery storage systems, electrical distribution systems, renewable energy technologies and SCADA and controls.
- Familiarity with the utility interconnection and construction process.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
