Nimble Giant Entertainment is looking for a full-time Lighting Artist
Our Art team is on the hunt for a skilled, committed, and enthusiastic Lighting Artist to join our team. We are seeking someone specialized at crafting immersive and visually stunning environments. Your expertise in lighting will play a pivotal role in setting the mood, enhancing the atmosphere and improving the overall visual quality of our games.
As part of the Environment Art team, your primary responsibility will be to create in-game lighting based on the guidance of our Art Director and Environment Art Lead. You will collaborate closely with other members of the team and art leads to ensure that lighting enhances the storytelling and gameplay experience, while also meeting technical requirements and performance targets.
Responsibilities:
- Develop game lighting to create immersive and visually appealing environments that enhance the game's narrative and aesthetics.
- Optimize lighting to ensure smooth performance while maintaining the desired visual quality.
- Seek for and provide constructive feedback to other lighters.
- Maintain daily communication with the rest of the environment team.
- Collaborate with other members of the art team to ensure visual consistency and proper integration of lighting with other aspects of the game.
- Stay updated on the latest techniques and trends in game lighting, and experiment with new tools and techniques to continuously improve the game's visual quality.
- Foster a positive workplace culture
Requirements:
- Solid understanding and experience in creating real-time lighting using dynamic light pipeline.
- Solid understanding of the basic theory of light propagation and light-material interaction.
- Understanding of industry-standard real-time rendering methods, including Physically Based Rendering techniques.
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5 and Lumen.
- A solid understanding of the impact of lighting direction on level design and gameplay.
- An up-to-date portfolio filled with examples of lighting work.
- A good understanding of shape, form, composition and tonal values.
- Good art sense (e.g. knowledge of composition, color, lighting, etc).
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Positive team-oriented attitude
Nice to Have:
- Fluent English skills.
