JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Technical Director must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to switch video content for live and pre-recorded productions. Candidate must have a deep knowledge of professional television studio video switching consoles such as Sony and Ross. Candidate will need to be well versed in the proper techniques required to provide exceptional technical direction and quality to all productions. 

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of cleanly switching multi-camera productions while managing the stage monitor fills.  
  • Work with show director and production teams on the proper technical video switcher setups for each show. 
  • Prepare show animations and switcher readiness. 
  • Work with Technical Operations Center (TOC), and Remote Sites to ensure remote feeds are properly setup and faxed. 
  • Interface with the Engineering department regarding equipment maintenance issues. 
  • Lend creative input to Production staff where appropriate to enhance production value. 
  • Ability to manage and configure video signal flow/routing and overall visual design. 
  • Multiviewer configurations per show for control rooms. 
  • Possess intimate knowledge of all studio equipment and technologies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Technical Director in a multi-camera studio and/or remote environment. Major market experience preferred. 
  • Experience in operating Sony XVS Switchers. 
  • Extensive knowledge of proper setup and configuration of video switchers with graphics for new shows or updated shows is required. 
  • Understanding of peripheral device control 
  • Familiar with electronic news rundowns (previous experience with ENPS is preferred) 
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with show production staff regarding technical requirements. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • SMPTE 2110 experience preferred 
  • Experience with Ross Mira GFX system preferred 
  • HDR & 4K knowledge a plus 
  • vMIX software preferred 
  • Stream Deck 
  • Solid State Logic (SSL)

  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude & leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities a must. 
  • Ability to work in fast paced, high-pressure environment. 

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 

 

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Ability to work flexible hours including holidays, nights, and weekends. 
  • This is a seasonal, 7-month role
