Summary

The National Football League is looking for an entertainment attorney with significant production legal experience to support NFL Media. This is an exciting opportunity to serve as the primary legal and business affairs point of contact at the NFL’s Los Angeles campus with respect to a broad range of issues. 

Strong candidates will possess an understanding of production and development issues and will have experience structuring, drafting and negotiating various types of contracts in the media/entertainment space.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and business affairs support for programming and related matters for the NFL’s owned and operated media platforms (NFL Network, NFL RedZone, NFL Channel, NFL.com and NFL+).
  • Draft, negotiate and review various production-related contracts (e.g., vendor agreements, graphics/software licenses, appearance releases, location agreements, footage licenses, services agreements), development deals, program licenses and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Structure, draft and negotiate agreements with on-camera talent and creative consultants in connection with NFL Media programming and content.
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and risk assessments with respect to content airing on the NFL’s linear channels and digital/social platforms, including clearance and publicity matters and other intellectual property issues.
  • Represent the NFL legal and business affairs team at NFL Media’s Los Angeles campus.
  • Collaborate with business executives and content production teams in Los Angeles and with other members of the NFL’s Legal Department and League Office in New York.
  • Assist with labor and employment matters and related issues as needed.
  • Support NFL Media’s Los Angeles operations (e.g., office/studio space matters, company events and initiatives) through ordinary course legal work as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. from accredited law school and valid membership (in good standing) in CA bar
  • 5+ years’ experience as entertainment/production counsel at a top-tier law firm, network, studio or production company, with in-house entertainment experience preferred 
  • Established proficiency with production-related contracts and high volume of projects 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, high-volume workplace environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse projects simultaneously 
  • Proven success tackling new challenges and collaborating with others
  • Thorough understanding of legal and business issues in production/entertainment space 

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

Occasional/limited travel may be required

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • FSLA Exempt 
  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. 

 

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

$220,000$255,000 USD
