As a Linux Engineer in the field, you will be responsible for deploying and supporting our live broadcast encoders for live events (Sports and Music). We're looking for passionate, methodical engineers who are excited about keeping our live systems running and providing end users with an excellent experience.


  • Architect local networking for multiple Linux-based encoder clusters
  • Ensure uplink connectivity to fiber, ethernet or satellite connections
  • Configure and tune our own custom encoders to run at the highest reliability and quality
  • Write and support scripts to automate application execution and health monitoring
  • Setup and monitor broadcast feeds via SDI and IP
  • Maintain connectivity with CDNs and edge server networks during live broadcasts
  • Travel with the encoders and equipment on location and work as a production crew member


Required Skills/Experience


  • Must have strong linux experience, ideally supporting encoders
  • Detailed understanding of IT networking and systems, firewalls, fiber-optics, MPEG, SAN and RAID based systems, TCP/IP, DNS, and SNMP
  • Must be willing to travel and available nights and weekends
  • Must be local to the Newport Beach office to work in the office as needed, or willing to relocate to So Cal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in broadcast transmission environments with an emphasis on digital video encoding
  • Used and deployed Evertz terminal equipment: audio embeders, time code generation, EXQ routers and VIP systems
  • In-depth knowledge of video encoding standards such as MPEG, H.26X and others is a plus
