NewStore is looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Professional Services team. You will be involved from the project discovery throughout execution of the project involving both solution partners and clients. Performing regular code and integration architecture reviews will be a main part of your responsibilities. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background as a developer and an interest in interfacing with clients and advising project engineering teams of our solution partners.  This is a critical role, working with Solution Architects and project Engagement Managers to define the building blocks of implementations and ensure that they are estimated, reviewed and tasked appropriately across the project team.

You will work closely with internal teams, including product management and engineering. You will take a leading role in maintaining and enhancing the tool stack the Professional Services team provides to Solutions Partners to implement and operate integrations with NewStore.

NewStore offers a versatile, dynamic work environment where you will build stable and scalable software based on NewStore that fulfills the business needs of our clients. To achieve this you will become an expert on how to leverage NewStore’s core functionality and how to implement customizations and integrations as needed. Ideally, you will step up over time to become a Solution Architect in our team.

The position reports to the regional Director Professional Services. The place of work could be Boston, MA.


  • Work with clients and the internal delivery team to understand and verify business requirements and architect complex solutions leveraging NewStore Cloud platform and AWS capabilities, existing eCommerce, POS, Order Management, Fulfillment, and ERP systems
  • Recommend solutions with an eye to future scalability, performance, maintenance and usage
  • Implement, test, debug and continuously improve software solutions running in cloud environments
  • Architect, review and implement complex solutions as part of an implementation project while taking over complete aspects or part projects
  • Work with the project team to estimate and review tasks with the project developers
  • Take responsibility for the NewStore Professional Services development tool stack provided to NewStore Solution Partners
  • Assume a Technical Subject Matter Expert role within specific business domains such as Payment, OMS, in-store technology, etc.
  • Use strong conceptual understanding of solution design, development tools and deployment strategies to improve our methodology as well as development, test and deployment processes and make them applicable to all implementation projects
  • Educate and guide decisions made by solution partners and customer technical team, as well as lead by example or implement mission critical functionality where necessary
  • Achieve customer objectives within time and scope, without sacrificing architectural integrity
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and technology developments


  • 7+ years experience in professional software development, and track record of multiple successfully implemented and rolled out projects in the retail industry
  • Relevant experience with several of the following subject areas:
    • Order Management and Fulfillment business processes (including shipping, invoicing, reverse logistics, payments), CRM, ERP, Financial systems integration, mobile applications and ecommerce
    • In-store Retail systems and processes (mPOS, endless aisle, payment)
    • SaaS, including cloud architecture and infrastructure such as AWS or comparable, and a desired five (5) years of relevant architecture experience
    • Technical background of at five (5) years, hands on developing and implementing on both client- and server-side: Web Service (RESTful), asynchronous data integrations, web scripting languages and web technologies, mobile applications, Javascript (node.js or React native) a plus
  • Strong programming skills in backend development and integration technology including programming in Python and / or Javascript (node.js) using Amazon Lambda Functions and Amazon Wed Services
  • Agile methodology, use case refinement and estimation, using tools like Jira, Confluence
  • Experience with Continuous Integration Tools, Test Automation and Test Automation Frameworks
  • Strong analytical, empirical troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Ability to advise engineers in technical questions and best practices regarding our product
  • Strong English language written and verbal communication skills, German a plus
  • Travel up to 25%
