You will grow our network of content contributors through innovative engagement programs of your own design and by leveraging technology, systems and process optimization. Additionally, you will oversee the design of internal systems that enable our content production staff to work at their full potential and expand our rate of resource utilization. You will also partner with your peers in technology and product management to ensure the faithful execution of our product roadmap. You will partner closely with your teammates in Editorial, Curriculum and Instruction and Content Acquisition and with your cross-departmental counterparts in Financial Planning & Analysis, the Project Management Office and Corporate Strategy. Your direct reports will be deeply integrated into the fabric of the larger content team and will look to you for mentorship and leadership opportunities.
Why You’ll Love This Role:
As the leader of the newly chartered Content Operations team, you will be warmly welcomed by the other members of the Content team who are relying on your expertise and systems-minded orientation to relentlessly seek out better ways of producing content. You will have a mandate to build a team of high achievers and set a culture of excellence. You’ll work closely with other VPs within the R&D, GTM and G&A. Your will have a direct impact on Newsela’s content throughput which will ultimately scale the company’s ability to bring engaging, culturally responsive learning content to K-12 classrooms nationwide.
Why We’ll Love You:
You have years of experience in managing/leading a team of operational professionals, preferably in a content-centric organization. You have demonstrated success in systems design and high-leverage process optimization. You have worked closely with Finance and Accounting to plan budgets and determine staffing. You are able to leverage your analytical skills to make impactful recommendations to your cross-functional stakeholders. You have been primarily responsible for vetting, selecting and managing outside vendors and may have worked closely with offshore solutions and contingent workforces.
