Company info

NewLimit is a biotechnology company working to radically extend human healthspan. We’re developing medicines to treat age-related diseases by reprogramming the epigenome, a new therapeutic mechanism to restore regenerative potential in aged and diseased cells. We leverage functional genomics, pooled perturbation screening, and machine learning models to unravel the biology of epigenetic aging and disease using experiments of unprecedented scale.

Description

NewLimit is seeking an scientist with in vivo physiology experience to contribute to our Metabolism and Immunology programs. Our therapeutic programs are developing reprogramming medicines to restore youthful function in old cells, treating otherwise intractable conditions. In this role, you will design and implement state-of-the-art in vivo models to facilitate the development of these reprogramming medicines, contribute to Discovery and pre-clinical decision making, and serve as a subject matter expert.

As a Scientist on our team, you will:

  • Collaborate with our Metabolism and Immunology teams to design, build, and employ in vivo models to support therapeutic development
  • Engineer humanized liver models for reprogramming therapeutics discovery screens
  • Evaluate reprogramming therapeutic candidates using in vivo functional assays to select therapeutic candidates
  • Develop methods for in vivo delivery of nucleic acid payloads in collaboration with our Epigenetic Editing team
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to drive pre-clinical decision making

Requirements

  • B.S. and 3+ years of work experience or Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with in vivo surgical and dosing procedures in rodent models (mouse or rat)
  • Experience managing an in vivo model breeding program
  • Experience with cell and tissue isolation from in vivo models
  • Experience with histology or immunohistochemistry preparation

Nice to have

  • History of contributing to a drug development program at the pre-clinical or clinical development stage
  • Experience working with liver disease models and associated procedures
  • Experience working with immunocompromised humanized mouse models
  • Experience with in vivo nucleic acid delivery (hydrodynamic, viral vectors, lipid nanoparticles
