Description

NewLimit is seeking a liver biologist with leadership experience to join our Metabolism team. Our Metabolism team is developing reprogramming medicines to restore youthful function in aged hepatocytes in the context of metabolic disease.

In this role, you will develop and perform assays for hepatocyte function, contribute to team decision making, and serve as a subject matter expert within NewLimit to enable our therapeutic development efforts.

As the leader of the Metabolism team, you will:

  • Lead a team of Scientists and Research Associates to develop epigenetic reprogramming therapies while remaining involved in day-to-day execution
  • Collaborate with our Single Cell Technology, Epigenetic Editing, and Predictive Modeling teams to design, build, and test epigenetic reprogramming interventions for aged and diseased hepatocytes
  • Contribute to NewLimit’s product development decisions, company-wide goals, and technology platform
  • Serve as a company-wide expert on metabolic diseases and liver biology
  • Develop assays to measure hepatocyte function both ex vivo and in vivo
  • Evaluate epigenetic reprogramming payloads using ex vivo and in vivo functional assays to select therapeutic candidates

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field or equivalent industry experience (5+ years)
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team and managing direct reports
  • Experience with therapeutic development, as demonstrated through contributions to a pre-clinical or clinical stage program
  • Experience designing and executing experiments in animal models of liver dysfunction
  • Deep knowledge of metabolic disease, liver biology, and relevant therapeutic modalities

Nice to have

  • Experience with in vivo nucleic acid delivery technologies (e.g. viral vectors, endosomes, lipid nanoparticles)
  • Experience with bulk and single cell functional genomics methods
  • Experience with iterative product development cycles (e.g. design-build-test-learn)
