Team Description:

The Finance and Accounting team manages the month-end financial statement close process and prepares periodic financial and management reports timely and accurately for internal and external stakeholders. The team is responsible for addressing any technical accounting needs from identification, research, and implementation to monitoring and revision. The team also accounts for any compliance reporting needs, addresses any internal control issues, and oversees financial risk management processes.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily bookkeeping to ensure the timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of the Company’s accounting records
  • Perform month-end financial statements close procedures, including but not limited to key focus areas of capital assets, leases, accrued liabilities, accounts payable, payroll expense and liabilities, bank and credit card account reconciliations, and stock-based compensation expenses
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliation workbooks to support month-end balances reported
  • Review accounting procedures performed by Accountants, identify and correct errors where necessary, and provide timely feedback and on-the-job coaching to support other team members’ growth
  • Prepare quarterly GAAP compliant financial statements for the compliance of the 701 disclosure requirements
  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Prepare and file tax information forms including form 3921, 1099-B and assist with reviewing form W-2
  • Assist in researching, developing, maintaining, and documenting corporate accounting policies and procedures in line with U.S. GAAP or other relevant regulatory guidance
  • Assist in designing, developing, and executing internal control procedures in line with the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR)
  • Evaluate and assist with the implementation of new accounting and procurement software
  • Collaborate with the procurement, accounting, and finance departments on the automation of routine procedures, and process and control design and enhancement
  • Assist others on the team with equity administration and other ad hoc projects. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years experience with a mix of public accounting and industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree or above in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA designation or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Public accounting firm experience is a plus
  • Industry experience in or audit engagement experience of biotechnology, medical device, or other technology companies is a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite, Quickbooks, Shareworks, and ZipHQ is an asset
  • Experience with stock plans is an asset
  • Intermediate Excel skills

Pay Transparency:

Based on California law, the following details are for California individuals only:

California base salary range: 
$90,000$160,700 USD
For Full-Time Employees, your compensation package will include two major components: salary and equity. Guidance on salary for this role will be determined according to the level at which you enter the organization, with the ability to gain more over time as you contribute.
