NPR is seeking a highly-skilled manager to oversee its flagship afternoon news show feature content.. The features manager is responsible for staffing, planning and editing all feature content with help from the All Things Considered staff. The Supervising Editor sets the strategic vision and sets objectives for growing and diversifying the audience in partnership with the Executive Producer. They are also responsible for coordinating social media and web stories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Features planning in consultation with ATC Executive Producer
- News-forward planning of content in coordination with ATC Managers
- Oversee and assign enterprise reporting from show staff that lives on Consider This podcast and All Things Considered.
- Manage and develop staff members.
- Cultivate and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
- Cultivate and support an inclusive and equitable workplace culture
Coordinate Show/Digital Communications
- Oversee a team of direct reports
- Work with Daily and Futures Planning Managers to identify show-generated content with rising digital potential
- Establish and maintain functional workflow for show/digital coordination that will enable significant increase in representation of show reporting on npr.org
- Track/report out to Managers and larger team on metrics for success and progress
- In consultation with Daily and Futures Planning Managers, ensure cross-platform planning for newsmaker interviews and enterprise reporting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least ten years of broadcast experience including experience working across platforms
- At least ten years of experience in daily news production
- At least ten years experience in editorial decision making with demonstrated ability to exercise solid, independent news judgment.
- Familiarity with a range of subject areas such as world news, business, science, and arts.
- Demonstrated excellence in news writing and copy-editing, especially on deadline.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under stringent timeframes, with changing priorities/conditions.
- Understanding of journalistic ethics.
- Proficiency with digital and multimedia production
- Passion for connecting with diverse audiences on a range of platforms
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to successfully edit features for All Things Considered
- Ability to successfully edit digital content
- Ability to manage multiple employees
- Cultivate and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
- Cultivate and support an inclusive and equitable workplace culture
- Sound editing skills
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $133,500-$163,150 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
Benefits: NPR offers access to comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR’s benefits options.
