Assistant Safety Manager

 

The Assistant Safety Manager’s primary role is to assist the Safety Director in leading and managing NDBS’ safety initiatives and programs. NDBS is dedicated to a culture of safety. The Jr. Safety Manager is to ensure that all safety policies and procedures comply with OSHA, nationwide laws and regulations, and other construction industry standards to create safe job sites.

Location: Remote, United States OR St. Louis, MO

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers to create and implement Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSP’s)
  • Review subcontractor SSSP for compliance with NDBS standards
  • Work with PM’s to develop meeting agendas and execute 1st Day/1st hour meetings prior to work commencing on site
  • Tailor and conduct training for field personnel on the SSSP at each job site prior to construction commencement to set expectations of safety requirements for each task, highlighting high-risk activities
  • Develop equipment lift plans in conjunction with Project Managers and chosen hoisting contractors to ensure safe practices for each lift
  • When necessary, in lieu of Project Managers, assist in lift supervision, participate in site readiness measures, ensure shipping materials are removed from units and curbs are installed level and that gasketing has been applied
  • Manage jobsite audit process, analyze findings, and discuss deficiencies with GC site managers to address corrective action if needed
  • Maintain, update and implement jobsite audit forms, pre-task safety analysis forms and hazard recognition
  • Participate in safety committee discussions to reform or update policies, paperwork and training modules
  • Provide professional interaction with clients, owners and subcontractor personnel
  • Perform such other duties and functions as required by the Safety Manager

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Safety preferred
  • Obtain OSHA 30, OSHA 500, 501 and ASP certification
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel nationwide to various jobsites. Travel estimated at 75%.
  • Must be an effective communicator, able to generate professional written material and deliver effective verbal presentations
