National Access Cannabis (NAC) is a unique health care service provider that specializes in prescribing medical cannabis and provides members with ongoing education and care. We work alongside Health Canada and licensed producers to help qualifying patients gain access to their license, as well as provide resources and support on using medical cannabis in their day-to-day routine. NAC has developed a strong history of effectively delivering secure, safe, and responsible access to legal cannabis for thousands of Canadian patients and our business model will be effectively replicated for the recreational cannabis retail space with a new brand, Meta Cannabis Supply Co (META™).

THE OPPORTUNITY 

The Law Clerk is responsible for performing legal and clerical duties, primarily in the areas of real estate, intellectual property and general corporate and commercial law. This includes all aspects of commercial leasing, assisting with the preparation of legal documents and correspondence, maintaining status reports and tracking the progress of various matters. This role will deal with daily correspondence, processing of agreements, forms and reports and execution of other general duties to support our retail recreational cannabis business, Meta Cannabis Supply Co. This position will report to our VP and Legal Counsel

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Maintaining files and corporate records to ensure that information is current and up to date
  • Completing corporate filings, license renewals and registrations as required
  • Reviewing business term sheets and identify appropriate precedent documents and clauses
  • Reviewing first draft of legal documents, including leases and related agreements
  • Preparing subsequent drafts of documents based upon instructions from Legal Counsel
  • Conducting lease reviews on a regular basis
  • Preparing and maintaining regular reports relating to the status of lease and other negotiations
  • Maintaining a diary and filing system to ensure appropriate follow up and retrieval of documentation
  • Entering and maintaining information in legal document status report
  • Composing, typing, distributing and filing correspondence pertaining to documentation
  • Updating and maintaining precedent files
  • Entering finalized documents into internal databases
  • Responding to questions about document status or content
  • Professionally communicating with other departments and clients on a regular basis
  • Collaborating with Legal, Real Estate, Insurance and Finance teams to ensure proper reporting, up to date files, etc.
  • Performing administrative duties, including typing, distributing/delivering correspondence, photocopying, faxing, organizing and maintaining files and answering phones
  • Assisting with all other legal and administrative duties while coordinating and assisting Legal Counsel with assigned matters

 QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Post-Secondary education in a law clerk or paralegal program
  • 5+ years’ working experience in corporate law, real estate, commercial leasing or a related field is a must
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office, including working with “blacklined” documents
