POSITION SUMMARY: The Billing Strategy Lead, Payment Posting is responsible for monitoring and analyzing operational data metrics and works collaboratively with the payment posting team, other cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure optimal operational performance. They will support management projects focused on revenue cycle operations, billing workflows, automation opportunities, and process optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis skills, healthcare billing, revenue cycle management knowledge, as well as experience with payment posting operations, and expertise in PowerBI

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project & Program Management
    • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with managers/supervisors to assess issues and to identify and implement improvements for more efficient operations
    • Support management of projects to ensure successful and timely completion
    • Support management in monitoring and tracking adherence of SOPs, SLAs, productivity and quality standards set by leadership
    • Support the Billing Strategy team in management of projects and preparation of adhoc/weekly reports and presentations
  • Billing & Revenue Cycle Optimization
    • Analyze end-to-end billing workflows to identify inefficiencies and automation opportunities.
    • Understand upstream revenue cycle processes (insurance verification/eligibility, prior authorization, claims submission, adjudication, etc.) and their impact on payment posting.
    • Evaluate self-pay, co-pay, payor plans, CPT codes, and billing processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
    • Coordinate with multiple teams within the organization for process improvement/efficiencies
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Develop actionable roadmaps for improving workflows and processes
    • Performs in-depth reviews/audits to identify issues/trends and create remediation plan(s)
    • Provide strong, timely financial and business analytics for decisions by organizational stakeholders
    • Evaluate key performance indicators, provide ongoing reports, and recommend business plan updates
    • Performs a wide range of analytics functions using tools such as Excel, Power BI and other business intelligence tools  
    • Analyzes payment posting reimbursement trends
    • Conducts complex data analysis and data interpretation  
    • Meets established deadlines timely, accurately, and with a sense of urgency
    • Performs other duties as assigned
  • This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and will have access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job
  • Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire
  • Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics, related field, or equivalent years of experience required. 
  • 3+ years of experience in revenue cycle management, healthcare billing, or related areas.
  • Strong understanding of payment posting workflows, claims processing, payor plans, and CPT codes.
  • Experience managing projects, tracking deliverables, and reporting on project status.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced proficiency with quantitative software programs (Microsoft Excel,Google Sheets, PowerBI). Ability to pull, analyze, and visualize data using these programs (pivot tables, macros, formulas).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to executive leadership.
  • Experience with SQL is a plus but not required. Billing systems experience a plus.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and reconcile data, validate data against source information.
  • Motivated, shows initiative, and ability to work in a fast paced environment.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
