Essential Functions:

Required Working Knowledge:

  • IT infrastructure systems, distributed, enterprise production environment (Ex.: Active Directory, Group Policy, LDAP, WINS, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server)
  • Virtualization - VMware ESX including server consolidation, image creation, VM builds
  • Data Center architecture and design including network storage, virtualization, distributed file system, data replication, and LAN/WAN data networking.
  • IT troubleshooting in a production environment
  • Major hardware components, including memory configuration, backup systems, storage technology, UPS, cabling, and switch networking
  • Utilizing network tools to monitor servers, firewalls, and network components for errors, security issues, and other problems; review device, network, and application logs; review usage and utilization statistics
  • Troubleshooting, resolving, and responding to infrastructure issues and problems; coordinating solutions with outside vendors, users, and information technology staff
  • Leading process improvement efforts, implementing process changes, and improving productivity through process improvement
  • Defining vision and goals and implementing changes to meet goals
  • Configuring, troubleshooting, and managing Nimble SAN storage
  • Experience or aptitude to manage small team of system engineers and administrators / Managed Service Providers

Qualifications and Specific Skill Set

  • Virtualization - VMware VCenter, ESXi Hosts, iSCSI, VM and Storage Migration, VMware Horizon (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure VDI)
  • Server and Storage Hardware (Prefer: Dell, HP, Nimble, Qumulo)
  • Basic networking knowledge / Cisco and Meraki switch maintenance / LAN/WAN Internet circuits architecture
  • Disaster Recovery Technologies: (Example: Veeam Backup & Replication, Cloud Storage)
  • Alerting and Monitoring Systems
  • Single Sign On, MFA (Example: OKTA)
    Windows Administration - Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Network Shares, Patch Management
  • Cloud Storage - AWS, Azure
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (Prefer: SOX, FDA)
  • Work independently but in close cooperation with US-based teams across multiple time zones
  • Experience coordinating remote teams
  • Working fluency in English

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment in Amsterdam, NL
  • Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 35 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery and physical harm when working in the field at construction sites and maintenance facilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in computer science, information technology, business management information systems, or related field
  • Five years of IT Systems Engineer experience in a distributed, enterprise production environment.
  • Experience implementing, configuring, and maintaining advanced/complex infrastructure technology including NAS, SAN, VMWare, Backup, and Monitoring; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience or aptitude in people management as well as Managed Service Providers
