*this role is open to remote working within Germany. Successful candidates will be required to travel to their closest UNiDAYS campus (London, Nottingham, New York or Sydney) on occasion.

The role in a nutshell

The DE Market Development Director will be our UNiDAYS leader and brand champion responsible for executing our German market strategy and scaling our presence and performance within the region. They will have responsibility and influence over investment, timeline and execution. They will track markets and trends, recommend new products and services, grow, and identify new, strategic partnerships, and help guide the long-term objectives to meet business requirements. They will also lead the in-market commercial and marketing teams - challenging them on executing the DE strategy. 

Day to day responsibilities 

  • Market Strategy Development. Develop and implement DE member and partner strategy  in-line with the Company strategy. 
  • Sales and Marketing Leadership. Lead commercial and marketing efforts to grow UNiDAYS' member base and partner brands in Germany. This includes creating marketing campaigns that resonate with the German student demographic, negotiating partnerships with German retailers and brands, and tailoring the value proposition to meet the needs and preferences of local users.
  • Operations Management. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the German segment, ensuring that the platform meets the needs of both students and partner brands effectively. 
  • Team Leadership and Development. Build and manage a local team capable of executing the strategy. This involves recruiting, training, and leading a team, fostering a positive and productive work culture, and ensuring the team has the resources and support needed to succeed.
  • Financial Performance. Manage the P&L for the German market, including setting budgets, monitoring financial performance, and making adjustments to ensure financial targets are met. This includes a focus on revenue growth through user acquisition and retention, as well as cost management.
  • Stakeholder Management. Serve as the main point of contact for all stakeholders interested in the German market, including internal teams and external partners. This involves regular reporting on market performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Market Intelligence. Continuously gather and analyse market intelligence on competitors, consumer trends, and technological advancements to inform strategic decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Customer and Partner Relationship Management. Foster strong relationships with key partners and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction among student users. 
  • Innovation and Adaptation. Identify and act on opportunities for innovation within the German market, such as introducing new features, services, or partnerships that can enhance UNiDAYS' value proposition.

What we need from you

Who you are

  • Effective communicator through presentations, writing, and strategic plans
  • Comfortable working remote to HQ, without limiting effectiveness in advocating for regional needs
  • Experience with product localisation in German market
  • Experience managing within existing categories & ecommerce

  • Delivery of revenue, member, & in-market new biz performance vs targets
  • Successful management of regional P&L within assigned budgets
  • YoY Growth of existing partner revenue in-region
