The role in a nutshell

This is an opportunity to work on a ground up rebuild of data analysis infrastructure started in 2018. The role is one of a team responsible for all stages to deliver new data and report output projects, from gathering requirements with stakeholders, through data mart design and build, to report development and release. As part of the data team the role will maintain and support Tableau reports and infrastructure.
At UNiDAYS you will be part of tech forward organisation experiencing a mixture of traditional data warehousing and modern big data platform development. This is a change to help build out a near green field data platform with the full support of the business.

Day to day responsibilities

  • Operate on new reporting projects
  • Requirements capture
  • Project specification and estimation
  • Report design and implementation in Tableau
  • End-to-end QA and proof of correctness
  • Manage Tableau Server BAU tasks (users management, performance monitoring, configuration)
  • Advise on data mart design and implementation in Redshift
  • Input into ETL Development in Talend Data Integration
  • Support data systems support
  • Evaluation of tickets 
  • Responding to support tickets for report/data issues
  • Development and release of fixes for issues
  • Support to colleagues
  • Coaching, Co-development/design, Teamwork
  • Participating/Running team meetings
  • Providing expert domain advice to the wider business
  • Representing the team in various cross-department contexts

What we need from you

  • BSc Computer Science (or equivalent qualification/experience)

 Core Experience Required

  • Excellent Tableau report development skills
  • End to end report development (from requirements to report delivery)
  • Understanding of Data Warehouse design
  • SQL development (advanced) 
Other Beneficial Experience
  • Tableau Server Configuration and Management 
  • ETL development e.g. Talend
  • AWS data systems development e.g. S3, Redshift, RDS, Athena, etc
  • Big Data platform development e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Spark, etc
  • Working with Insight Analysts/Data Scientists and their environments; e.g. R, Jupyter, Scala
