Job Description 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Server Engineer to join our Unity game development team. As a Senior Server Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side infrastructure and services for our Unity-based game. The ideal candidate has a strong background in server-side development, a deep understanding of networking protocols, and experience in Unity game development.

 

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Server Engineer in Unity game development, with at least 5 years of server-side development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in server-side programming languages such as Node.js.
  • Extensive experience with backend technologies and frameworks such as Node.js, postgres and redis.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols, client-server architectures, and server-authoritative game logic.
  • Expertise in designing and developing RESTful APIs, web services, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and knowledge of serverless architecture.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
  • Solid understanding of software development principles, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to debug and resolve complex server-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain server-side infrastructure and services for games, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with game developers to understand game design requirements and implement server-side features and functionalities.
  • Develop and integrate APIs, plugins, and third-party services for authentication, cloud storage, analytics, and other server-related functionality.
  • Optimize server performance, including database queries, network communication, and overall server load.
  • Collaborate with network engineers to ensure secure and efficient data transfer between game clients and servers.
  • Debug and troubleshoot server-related issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement necessary optimizations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in server-side development and Unity game development.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, helping them develop their skills and knowledge in game development.
