This is your function:

As Controller (m/f), you will be the go to person in the business for understanding into what is driving performance & expected future performance in the countries assigned to you. For these countries, you will provide vital business partnering & financial support to the general managers (GMs) & their teams, to help them fully understand what has caused the trends within their business & how these can be affected using the leavers available. Working with the department heads you will also be responsible for understanding & reporting on the head office cost base, ensuring all functions remain within their budgets and any potential efficiency improvements are explored. You will report into the Head of finance but key relationships with the SMT, country GMs (& their team), BI & marketing will be required

Main areas of responsibility

Budgets / Reforecasts:

Support country GMs in producing the GMV & margin budget, provide first line of finance scrutiny on the targets using historic trends & analysis to support the figures. Assist the head office department heads (IT, product, marketing, HR & finance) in the creation of their budgets. Produce weekly in month GMV forecast highlighting at the earliest opportunity potential variances to budget/reforecast targets then work with GM & marketing teams to come up with gap closure plans to ensure targets are delivered.

KPIs/Reports:

Educate GM as to the value of KPI reporting, which KPIs to focus on & why as well as how each KPI helps drive the financial performance of the country.

Provide recommendations as to how KPIs can be improved, work with GM & marketing to implement any agreed improvement plans.

Actualize and improve reports to teams and shareholders on regular basis

P&L analysis:

Understand fully the monthly costs from the HQ departments, review these costs and how they are tracking against budget with the department head and where necessary agree a plan to bring costs back in line with budget.

Educate GM & wider country team on underlying reasons for country performance providing in depth analysis of what has driven P&L & KPI numbers & create an understanding what has caused WoW/MoM/YoY movements.

Monthly review of all marketing spends with marketing lead to ensure efficient use of marketing spend & that budgets are not being exceeded.

These are your qualifications:

  • Successfully completed Studies of business administration with focus on controlling, international accounting, or finance & accounting.
  • Min. 3-5 years of controlling experience, with proven track record of driving business performance through insights & recommendations
  • Highly commercial & inquisitive mindset
  • Excellent ability to take large quantities of data and summarise it into easily digestible sizes for the business to understand
  • Confident and outgoing person who can challenge and push back on GMs/department heads
  • Professional handling of MS-Office products
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable communicating with non-finance people and senior managers
  • Very good knowledge of spoken & written English
