Senior Manager- Buying/PD (Women’s - Footwear)
 
Roles and Responsibilities
 
o Leading the product development and fit/sizing for entire women’s footwear portfolio.
o Manage and guide the factories/ designers and oversee the process end to end from
research and visualizations of ideas, creation of concepts, creating the mood-boards,
colour boards, deciding the silhouettes and creating the final sample.
o Decide the plan for the season, create a product calendar in coordination with buying
team and plan execution along with the production team
o Should possess an understanding of internal and external variables that impact our
business (this entails owning trend forecasting, understanding market gaps,
opportunities & competition, along with a thorough understanding all technical aspects
of product development in women’s footwear.
o Analyse developments from a technical perspective to study patterns and provide
design specifications on material, colour, print, fit etc.
o Collaborate with the merchandisers and category managers to understand the on-
ground challenges to align the sample creation.
o Work with vendors on sourcing and buying of materials and creating appropriate
samples for each product to maintain the quality standards and adhere to appropriate
cost.
o Conduct research on styles of footwear needed for our target group, studying the past
seasons, and predicting future trends.
o Overseeing of pre-production samples and tech-packs & has understanding/knowledge
of the production cycle.
o Coordinate and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight
deadlines
o Working on strategies to minimize cost through product reengineering and market
research.
o Resolving returns with a strict timeline and sharing monthly report on the same.
 
Qualifications & Experience
 NIFT/NID/FDDI with 8-12 years of experience in developing footwear for domestic or
international brands.
 Experience / exposure to e-commerce will be an advantage.
 Product expertise in women’s footwear is mandatory.
 Strong experience and skills in cross functional stakeholder management.
 In depth understanding of technical aspects of footwear product development: Aesthetics,
Material, Quality and Construction along with basic understanding in collecting, analysing,
and interpreting data.
 Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
