The Moz Group is making major investments in our engineering team! This role is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is growing rapidly and positioned for success. We’re looking for a Senior Reliability Engineer to join our team.

If you love improving the performance, reliability, and stability of services, you’ll thrive on this team. We're responsible for the core services that power a major feature in our suite of SEO (search engine optimization) products. We’re making major investments to enhance our customer experience by making these services more reliable and easier to maintain over time.

We are an office optional company. This position can be fully remote from anywhere within the USA. We're also open to having folks be based out of our Seattle, WA offices.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and resolve issues in our core applications, including:

    • Upgrading software versions

    • Ensuring all services can be developed locally

    • Standardize deployment among services

    • Containerizing services

    • Adding observability to services

    • Document and train others in the use and maintenance of services

  • Participate in the on-call rotation, handling systems and operations issues as they arise (including off-hours alerts)

  • Understand and embrace our core values: Transparent, Accountable, Generous, Fun, Empathetic and Exceptional.

Experience We Want to See

  • You’ve owned services in production before, including on-call responsibilities

  • You’ve added observability to services (honeycomb preferred)

  • You’ve containerized services

  • You’ve worked with Terraform, AWS (ECS), Node.js, and SQL

  • You’ve worked with either Ruby or Elixir

  • You’ve worked in a micro-service architecture

  • Understanding and support for pragmatic, agile software development practices

  • Excellent accountability
