The Software Quality Assurance for Tools team at Motional plays a critical role in verifying the tools built for use in both offline and in-vehicle testing and analysis. The team is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, verified tools to Motional users.  As a member of this team, you’ll have a daily impact on the achievement of self-driving targets by contributing to the quality-first approach to the software development lifecycle for internally developed tools.

What you’ll be doing

Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures, providing valuable feedback through analysis and reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the organization to elicit requirements and use cases of internally developed tools. 

  • Contribute to a high-performance team that fosters a zero-defect, quality-first mindset
  • Design and execute test cases for visualization and simulation tools used throughout the organization 
  • Work with teams to understand test scenarios and requirements
  • Identify issues, creating clear and comprehensive descriptions which include reproducible steps; work with developers to aid in issue resolution and verification
  • Analyze test results and document findings in a comprehensive test report
  • Manage issues and defects throughout their entire lifecycle
  • Understand system requirements and write test cases to confirm that requirements are fully met
  • Show initiative and be a valued team member in our innovative, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where cooperative teamwork is expected

Required Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics or relevant field
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle, testing processes and QA methodologies
  • Experience with Linux and some programming (Python, Bash/Shell)
  • Experience in using issue tracking tools is preferred (esp. Atlassian Confluence, Jira, GitLab)
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to think logically and remove bias from evaluation of problems
  • High level of accuracy and attention to details
  • Experience in technical writing, technical drawings and documentation of mechatronics systems is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
  • Basic understanding of robotics systems including sensors, actuators, mechanical and software systems is a plus

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with test scripts and/or test automation
