About the role:
While autonomous driving may have significant challenges from unpredictable edge cases, in farming, mobility is just part of what needs to be done to farm successfully. We have a new set of challenges and obstacles for you to confront. We’re looking for someone who becomes energized by new challenges and desires tangible industry transformation, unmitigated by significant safety concerns due to high speed travel.
The perception engineer will be an integral member of our autonomy team. He/she will have outstanding teamwork qualities and have demonstrated capability in building perception capabilities for a mobile robotic platform of any kind. The perception engineer will have experience working through a number of different sensors, including vision/camera, radar, ultrasonic and possibly lidar. He/she will work hand-in-hand with the software infrastructure development team so that the platform ecosystem will link successfully with the autonomy team. The ideal candidate will ideally have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in developing perception systems in self-driving car programs, non-automotive outdoor robotics or industrial automation heavily engaged in software development and deployment at a production level.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or robotics
- 2+ years of autonomous driving or robotics development work
- Ability to work cross-functionally with a number of different departments and engineering disciplines
- Experience working with vision systems, radar and ultrasonic sensors
- Experience with creating sensor fusion algorithms
- Ability to benchmark algorithms based on speed, accuracy and robustness
- Experience working with cloud architecture
- C++ and Python proficiency
- A burning desire to create something awesome
