The Role

We’re looking for an AI Product Engineer to join our small but nimble AI team. Your mission is to deploy responsible AI within the Modern Health ecosystem. As an AI Product Engineer, you will work on developing and implementing AI-powered products, incorporating LLMs, embeddings, and other ML/AI technologies into Modern Health’s experiences.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Hawaii.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical leadership on a new team prototyping and experimenting with new AI features
  • Productionize and ship AI integrations into Modern Health’s core product
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver product features on time
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest AI technologies and trends

Who You Are

  • 8+ years experience building and prototyping: You have experience building products from the ground up with a solid grasp of the full stack from user experience to data models. You are familiar with RDS (ideally Postgres)
  • Problem-solving: You understand first principles thinking and approach problems starting with a clear understanding of context. You think critically about the implications of what you're building and how it will impact real people's lives. You can navigate ambiguity, keeping in mind the business impact of what you’re building
  • Empathetic communication and collaboration: You communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether you're explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real time. You can empathize with other points of view and consider another person’s angle, especially when it disagrees with your own. You collaborate well not only with other engineers but with all cross-functional partners. You are a lifelong learner and invest your own growth and the growth, learning, and development of your teammates.
  • Impact-focused: You care about business impact and prioritize your work accordingly. You understand the balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line. Your impact extends beyond the code; you mentor other engineers, have taken lead on large projects, and are thinking beyond immediate deliverables to set teams up for long-term success.
  • Shipping quality user interfaces: You have partnered closely with product and design to craft beautiful user experiences for large audiences, ideally with React/React Native.

Bonus Points

  • GenAI production experience (building with LLMs, inference, embeddings, etc.)
  • ML experience (data engineering, model development, MLOps, etc.)
  • You're proficient with any part of our technology stack: Python/Django, React/React Native/TypeScript, Docker, Postgres, AWS
  • You have experience driving teams toward shared goals and can balance business priorities with individuals’ strengths, areas of interest, and career development goals
  • Experience in a high growth SaaS and/or Health Tech startup environment
