Responsibilities:

  • Improve automated deployments of OpenStack environments backed by MySQL using Salt, Ansible and other DevOps tools
  • Maintain build solutions for product artefacts at all levels (DEB packages,APT repositories, Docker images, code repositories/Gerrit)
  • Research and invent new ways to improve stability, performance, reliability and scalability of MySQL enabled OpenStack environments
  • Document and enforce Linux packaging best practices, provide code review for packaging work by other teams
  • Share knowledge with other engineering teams and technical writers
  • Troubleshooting of base system components and implementing fixes  

Must have:

  • Excellent knowledge of distributed database systems especially MySQL Galera and Percona
  • Good Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills with exposure to concurrent and distributed systems.
  • Experience with databases (MySQL, Galera, PostgreSQL, Percona)
  • Good knowledge of networks, network programming, TCP/IP, messaging protocols.
  • Good knowledge of virtualization solutions (libvirt, KVM, Xen, VMware)
  • 5+ years of Linux system administration experience
  • Experience with Linux HA

Will be a plus

  • First-hand experience with configuration management and deployment tools (Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, Cobbler, MCollective)
  • Experience with Linux HA (corosync, pacemaker)
  • Experience with databases (MySQL, Galera, PostgreSQL, Percona)
  • Experience with configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools (Nagios, Ganglia, Zabbix, Prometheus)
  • Experience deploying and developing OpenStack or other cloud management frameworks
  • experience writing RPM specs or Debian package build scripts (familiarity with both is a big plus);
