We are looking for our next extraordinary Manager Data Engineering to level-up the Enterprise Information Management Team in Costa Mesa!

The Manager Data Engineering I is a leadership role within the Enterprise Information Management organization responsible for overseeing and driving enabling purpose-built data for availability by systems, analysis, reporting, analytics, and data science.

In this hybrid business-technical leadership role, you will work with leadership and business units to understand information needs to ensure thorough understanding of all aspects/contexts of process, systems, and data needs are provided by timely/accurate/complete requirements. The primary responsibility of the role is to lead the development, innovation, and evolution of the Data Lake/Warehouse which will be delivered by managing a team of high performing data engineers/analysts. The role is also responsible for data enablement through managing and leading the development of multiple data access endpoints including virtualization, reporting backend infrastructure, MDM, and REST API.

Your usual day of awesomeness includes: 

  • Manage daily operations of the data lake/warehouse to ensure timely/accurate delivery, high availability of data enablement endpoints through automated monitoring, incident management, and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain processes for intake, prioritization, and delivery are conducted through collaboration with appropriate stakeholders for the team’s completion of deliverables.
  • Manage and lead the design/development of the data lake/warehouse/virtualization pipelines/processes to ensure scalability, performance, security, change control for dev/prod environments, and monitoring.
  • Manage and lead the design/development of reporting data infrastructure to ensure scalability, performance, security, change control for dev/prod environments, and monitoring.
  • Manage and lead the design/development of REST API to provide DAS (data as a service) while ensuring scalability, performance, security, change control for dev/prod environments, and monitoring.
  • Manage and lead the design/development of future MDM (master data management) domains by partnering with business, technical, and data governance stakeholders with considerations of ensuring scalability, performance, security, change control for dev/prod environments, and monitoring.
  • Manage relevant software/platform required upgrades/releases are documented, tested, communicated to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Author and maintain relevant content regarding data lake/warehouse/enablement platforms/software.


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in ELT/ETL, data services/pipelines, data modeling (OLTP, 3/NF, dimensional), data lake and cloud warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, and reporting/analytic tools.
  • 3+ years development with ETL tools (Talend/Stitch, Informatica, Fivetran, Matillion, or similar) including distributed architectures (Microservices, SOA, and RESTful APIs).
  • 3+ years managing, leading, and developing team members.
  • Experienced in multiple relevant topics such as data warehousing, master data management, data security, information design, analytics, and data science.
  • Knowledge of data structures such as columnar, unstructured, APIs, data virtualization, data warehousing, data visualization, predictive analytics, statistics, and analytic models.
  • Experience with commercial solutions used for API management.
  • Knowledge of the development and management required for ETL, ELT, REST, and SOAP implementations.
  • Experience in at least one major foundational language such as SQL, Python, R, C#.NET, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Experienced building reporting/dashboards/scorecards leveraging BI/Reporting Tools (Looker, Tableau) or other data visualization software.
  • A hands-on leader that can actively troubleshoot, guide colleagues, and proactively communicate.
  • Detail oriented, having the ability to focus on details while still seeing the broader picture.
  • Ability to work through a problem logically, identify root causes, and provide practical effective solutions while being detail and process oriented.
  • Excellent written, visual, oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with key business partners clearly and succinctly.
  • Proven ability to inspire confidence, create executive presentations, effectively present information, and guide strategic discussions.
  • Strong people and project management skills to manage daily team operations.
  • A self-starter who can work without continuous supervision and is highly organized.
