Content Writer

Minerva Analytics, the latest team to emerge from Cogo’s proven incubator model, is seeking our first ever Content Writer to join our team. Using Cogo’s extensive data warehouse, the Minerva team is building communities of users on the internet through a combination of rapid-development web property tools, scalable user acquisition, and extensive competitive and performance analysis. At our core we are a media company that employs data-driven, analytical methodologies to create profitable web businesses.

About the job:

We are seeking a strong storyteller and creative writer who has a proven track record for engaging a variety of digital audiences and drive traffic. You will collaborate with our product, design and marketing teams to create content and blog posts across a wide range of distribution channels, brands and markets to engage our target audiences, which differ by product. You must know how to research various topics and industry trends and produce regular content while sticking to a deadlines. Excellent grammar and writing skills are required for this position. We are looking for someone to work part-time for about 20-25 hours per week.

What you will do:

  • Partner with members of our Product teams to understand the needs and expectations for each product
  • Collaborate with product marketing to build out an engaged, excited community of active readers for each of our site properties
  • Manage editorial calendar and creating content regularly to support strategic goals, including creative ways to recycle content across multiple channels simultaneously
  • Brainstorm new ideas and strategies for effective content
  • Research markets and industries to create content that is innovative and original
  • Write website, blog and email content for all Minerva products (Starlies, Quickscope, Foodisle, etc.)
  • Develop copy on a wide variety of topics for multiple platforms (such as the website, blogs, articles, and social media)
  • Create eye-catching and innovative email headlines
  • Collaborate with campaign managers and designers to release content on a regular basis
  • Help with company brand content writing (Minerva blog, Instagram, Company website)

A successful candidate will have:

  • Exceptional writing skills with a strong portfolio of digital media content and a track record of audience growth and engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field preferred OR relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional writing experience, preferably on websites or in the media space
  • Familiarity with keyword placement and SEO
  • Portfolio of published work
  • Experience writing blogs, newsletters, articles etc.
  • Excellent grammar and writing skills
  • Self-directed and able to prioritize content releases
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
  • Able to work part-time for at least 20 hours per week
  • Experience with marketing, market research and understanding consumer behavior a plus
