Senior Gameplay Engineer

The Big Picture:

Mindshow lets anybody create and share 3D cartoons using VR to be watched anywhere. Users animate characters and record performances using their own movements voices. Because no code or specialized knowledge is required to play, Mindshow unlocks and enables our users’ creativity. The resulting Mindshows can be easily shared with and remixed by other Mindshow users, or filmed exported as 2D or 360º video. We empower users’ creativity by executing on ours. As a Senior Gameplay Engineer at Mindshow, you will empower our users by developing fun, playful, inspiring, and super sticky new product features. You will work closely with designers and artists to ensure that these features are built and implemented with the user’s needs in mind.

This role is a full time, on-site position based out of our offices in Downtown Los Angeles, featuring a competitive salary and benefits (401K; health, vision and dental, and supplemental insurance) commensurate with your experience and expertise.

The Everyday View

  • Implement core user facing product features in Unity and C#, delivering surprise and delight to our users and inspiring their creativity through ours
  • Collaborate with artists and designers to help develop new features, and contribute original ideas towards all aspects of production and development
  • Develop high-quality, modular code that is well engineered and architected to support long-term development and product evolution
  • Work with QA (in addition to testing your own code and performing peer reviews of other people’s code) to ensure the application is rock solid
  • Analyze code performance and architect optimizations
  • Keep up to date with technological developments and advancements in virtual reality

  • 3+ years’ work experience in software engineering on a professional team, outside of college
  • Solid portfolio of recently shipped Console/PC/Mobile games
  • Formal training in software engineering and computer science

Bonus Level:

  • An engineering expert in Unity, C#, and gameplay development
  • Specialized experience with virtual reality SDKs, including SteamVR, OpenVR, and Oculus, is highly desired
  • Specialization in 3D, animation, physics, gameplay, UI/UX, audio/video, AI, networking, and tools
  • Curious and inspired by technology developments across platforms (VR, AR, mobile, console)
  • Experience with C++
