As a Senior Trademark Paralegal, you will assist and report to the Director of Legal and Business Affairs in managing our vast international trademark portfolio.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Coordinate with different in-house departments and supervise outside counsel to namely assure trademark prosecution deadlines are respected
  • Coordinate oppositions and invalidation actions with different in-house departments and outside counsel
  • Perform preliminary trademark clearance searches for all incoming new brands and draft client reports and opinions for attorney review.
  • Coordinate and conduct searches in the context of trademark due diligence reviews and compliance reports for an international portfolio
  • Support various in-house trademark-related projects and providing internal teams with trademark requirements requests related to cybersquatting, trademark infringement and anti-counterfeiting effort

What you'll need to be successful: 

Must haves:

  • Paralegal degree from a recognized institution or relevant work experience.
  • Experience overseeing international trademark portfolios whether in-house or within a boutique intellectual property or national law firms
  • 7+ years’ experience as a trademark paralegal
  • Excellent knowledge of international trademark offices’ procedures regarding trademark prosecutions, namely managing office actions, filings, maintenance, renewals, oppositions, assignments and cancellation actions and their related requirements.
  • Great interpersonal and drafting skills required to coordinate with different in-house departments and supervise outside counsel to namely assure trademark prosecution deadlines are acquired.
  • Experience coordinating oppositions and invalidation actions.
  • Experience performing preliminary trademark clearance searches for all incoming new brands and draft client reports and opinions for attorney review.
  • Experience coordinating and conducting searches in the context of trademark due diligence reviews and compliance reports for an international portfolio.
  • Experience supporting various in-house trademark-related projects and providing internal teams with trademark requirements requests related to cybersquatting and anti-counterfeiting efforts.

Nice to Have:

  • CIPO Trademark Agent certification an asset.
  • Minimal knowledge of, or experience assisting with corporate, commercial and/or litigation legal matters.
