A deep appreciation for collaboration will also be key, as you’ll work with other Exec team members, Engineering Directors, Management, as well as, Design, Partnerships, and Ops departments on defining the trajectory of our Engineering department. Externally, you’ll represent the engineering team in front of clients, which means listening well, communicating a clear point-of-view, and bringing quiet confidence to the room. Above all else, you care deeply about building teams and shipping exceptional products.

  • Provide thought leadership to both internal and external teams
  • Invest in hitting company targets and maintaining strong team engagement
  • Help close new opportunities alongside the Partnerships and Client Partner teams by bringing clarity and confidence to new business capability meetings
  • Maintain the MetaLab quality bar on existing projects and stay at the forefront of new and emerging technologies and platforms (hardware/software integrations, machine learning, connected environments, etc)
  • Build on MetaLab’s strong reputation in engineering
  • Participate in project scoping, estimation, and resourcing
  • Lead gap analyses for product architecture on existing projects and define the product architecture on new or potential projects
  • Collaborate closely with Design and Project Management departments
  • Help to vet, hire, and train new engineering team members
  • Actively engage in the engineering community, representing MetaLab, attracting new talent, and inspiring our team
  • Travel for client meetings or occasional office visits (if remote)

The must-have shortlist:

  • 15+ years experience leading product engineering teams, ideally in both agency and in-house environments, including leadership of 25+ person teams
  • Strong track record of shipping products with solid in-market examples
  • Leader, listener, and mentor
  • Expert knowledge of web and mobile application stacks with insights on industry best practices
  • Present to clients with credibility, clarity, and confidence
  • Ability to build relationships with teammates and clients alike and can fluently transition from technical to business speak to meet your audience
  • Enjoy taking complex problems and turning them into elegantly simple solutions
  • Seek to be part of a highly collaborative, high-quality engineering team
