The Consumer PR Senior Manager will lead consumer PR for MERIT, working closely with our Brand Director and three global PR agencies to secure sales-focused + culture-defining press for the brand. The role will encompass owning all product launch PR strategies, driving consumer trend + evergreen placements, executing media + VIP seeding programs, and working closely with MERIT’s paid marketing team to refine MERIT’s affiliate PR program.
Responsibilities:
Lead the strategy and execution of consumer public relations programs across the US, UK, Canada and all new geographies
Act as lead client connect for all of MERIT’s 3 global PR agencies; Take leading role in sourcing + hiring all future comms agencies
Manage consumer PR discretionary budget relating to seeding, agency fees, seeding, and events/activations
Take a data-informed view of program progress, measured against EMV + affiliate goals. Manage ongoing program trackers and internal metrics reporting for PR program
Lead product seeding process; execute large-scale product pushes and specialized seeding experiences tied to major launch moments that lead to brand media coverage, VIP relationship building, and social media shares
Ideate and execute editor events for key launches
Stay abreast of the industry landscape and identify opportunities around topical media narratives
Work collaboratively with external and internal partners on cross-functional projects
Requirements:
5+ years of communications experience; in-house and agency beauty industry experience strongly preferred
Program leadership experience required; especially related to: launch execution, product seeding, agency management
Existing media relationships and a deep knowledge of the beauty and/or consumer press landscape
High levels of self determination and the ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environments
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an innate ability to build constructive relationships internally and externally with key partners
A record of operating with good judgment and leveraging creative problem-solving skills
Strong project management and prioritization skills
High attention to detail
The ability to action on constructive, creative critiques
The ability to be agile and thrive in a dynamic, fast moving environment
We are proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package in addition to salary compensation. The annual salary range for this role is $106,000 - $125,000 in addition to bonus potential, stock options, a 401(k) match, health benefits, paid time off and more. The final salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the individual's experience and qualifications.
