MERIT is hiring for a Video & Graphic Designer to join the creative social team in LA. Reporting to the Brand Design & Social Lead, this role will work on video and static digital assets used across social media channels. We are looking for a creative individual with a passion for social media, who is well-versed in video editing, has a strong eye for typography, and can deliver strong conceptual ideas and carry through to seamless design execution. The right candidate has a strong pulse on social trends and all things video and design. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in defining our brand's visual identity across social media, ensuring a seamless integration of a social-first approach and aesthetic excellence. The ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup is a must.
Responsibilities :
- Create engaging, on-brand video and graphic content (shooting original content as needed) for Instagram, Tiktok, and Youtube
- Edit footage into compelling storytelling content for different brand moments
- Maintain a library of on brand video and graphic resources, including music, animation styles, and other materials
- Design Instagram stories and social-first graphics, translating campaign objectives and messaging into visually impactful assets
- Retouch and edit images when needed
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute content ideas, new storytelling formats, creative treatments and social-first ideas for campaigns
- Help shape and evolve our brand's visual identity across social media platforms, maintaining a cohesive and recognizable aesthetic that reflects our brand values and personality
- Analyze the performance of visual content across social media channels, monitoring engagement metrics, audience feedback, and trends to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement
- Present well-developed and strategic creative solutions to meet brand objectives that are competitive in the beauty industry and help differentiate the brand
- Self-manage multiple projects at once and ensure they are completed in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Graphic Design; prior experience at fashion or beauty brand highly preferred
- BA or BFA (preferred)
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and knowledge in video editing, including Premier and/or After Effects
- Prior experience designing effective digital content for social media platforms
- Proven experience in content creation, both photo and video
- The ability to apply conceptual thinking and technical implementation skills
- High attention to detail
- An ability to work in a fast paced team environment, while having the capability to work autonomously with limited supervision
- An ability to incorporate feedback and constructive criticism well
This role is based in LA; successful candidates must have the ability to work in office 2-3 days per week.
We are proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package in addition to salary compensation. The annual salary for this role is $75,000 - $85,000, in addition to bonus potential, stock options, a 401(k) match, health benefits, paid time off and more. The final salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the individual's experience and qualifications.
