We are looking for our first Ecosystem Partnerships hire to lead efforts with key strategic and technology partners, starting and scaling the new program from scratch. This person will be responsible for defining and executing the program strategy as well as building and leading a world-class team. It will be critical that this person is able to identify and prioritize the most impactful partnerships and work with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver results. 

Someone who is successful in this role will think creatively to bring new and unique experiences to Mercury users via partnerships. The ideal candidate has deep expertise building out product and integration-led partnerships, negotiating complex commercial deals, and leading new programs in undefined environments. We want somebody who will nurture and grow our partner ecosystem to deliver best-in-class product experiences and meaningful business impact. 

This person will have plenty of experience evaluating market dynamics all while sourcing, scoping, negotiating, managing and growing partner relationships. You will be comfortable interacting, presenting to, and persuading executives to help drive team priorities. You will be part of a team that is energetic, motivated, and optimistic that embraces change and sees learning opportunities in business challenges. 

Here are some things you’ll do on the job:

  • Define, develop, and execute the Ecosystem Partnerships program strategy
  • Build this new discipline for Mercury, ensuring initial and ongoing success of the program
  • Determine top partnership opportunities that will deliver the most value to Mercury users
  • Be a product expert, well-versed in all of the potential ways companies can integrate and partner with Mercury
  • Bring feedback on opportunities and pain points to product and engineering, improving Mercury’s features and creating more amazing user experiences
  • Build deep relationships and influence both internal and external stakeholders to drive team and company-wide initiatives
  • Lead cross-functional teams including product, engineering, design, legal, finance, and analytics, often without explicit authority, in order to ensure the success of your partners and initiatives
  • Own the partner process and relationship end-to-end, through initial partnership scoping, negotiation, signing, launch, and ongoing partner management
  • Develop partnership thought leadership; explore potential new operating models and commercial constructs to support market growth and mutual company/partner benefit
  • Own end-to-end relationships with key partners and maintain senior executive-level contacts

You should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or something you feel is equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in relevant experience, including business development, strategic partnerships, and product
  • Demonstrated ability to build networks across strategic partners departments and senior management at target partners
  • Experience building custom product or integration partnerships
  • Experience managing large, diverse, and strategic partner relationships
  • You can find and nurture new opportunities - developing strategy, sourcing partners, working with product, and going-to-market are normal activities for you
  • Possess strong relationship management skills, with the ability to develop authentic relationships with partners
  • Be adept at solving ambiguous problems and building for scale
  • Highly entrepreneurial and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to thrive under minimal guidance
  • Have a strong product sense
  • Be passionate about technology, startups, and supporting early-stage businesses
  • Have an innate curiosity and the ability to uncover the needs of strategic partners
  • Communicate with clarity and purpose in both written and verbal communication
  • Be open to giving and receiving feedback from both internal stakeholders and customers
  • Love problem solving and making teams, products, and processes more efficient
  • Work well as part of a team and with other groups

The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.

Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.

Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:

  • US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $260,300  - $306,200
  • US employees in other locations: $234,300 - $275,600
  • Canadian employees (any location): CAD 236,900 - 278,600
