We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Solutions Architect to define and implement solution alternatives that effectively align with our business strategies and objectives. This role calls for the creation and maintenance of strategic enterprise business and application roadmaps across multiple Product Teams and projects. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of business goals, objectives, outcomes, capabilities, value streams, and processes, and will be responsible for developing comprehensive deliverables to manage our portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions, including applications, processes, information, and shared services. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Alignment: Define and refine solution architectures that align with the organization's business strategies and objectives. 
  • Roadmap Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive enterprise business and application roadmaps for multiple Product Teams and projects. 
  • Business Translation: Understand and translate business drivers, goals, and capabilities into system designs and change requirements. 
  • Lead Evaluation and Design: Evaluate, design, and analyze the implementation of solution architectures across business applications and technologies.
  • Architectural Development: Develop architectural designs guiding solution development across products, services, and systems, including applications, technologies, processes, and information.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with business stakeholders to ensure architectural solutions align with business needs, driving targeted outcomes. 
  • Effectiveness Monitoring: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of the solutions architecture and recommend adjustments as necessary to meet business objectives. 
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, operations, business and other architects, to ensure seamless execution and delivery of solutions. 
  • Environment Analysis: Analyze the business-IT environment to identify critical deficiencies, legacy systems, and technical debt, recommending solutions for improvement. 
  • Reference Architectures: Create detailed reference architectures encompassing design principles, decision points, APIs, major systems, and dependencies between business and IT. 
  • Deliverable Production: Produce key deliverables, such as standard definitions, reference models, and architecture designs, to support and drive targeted business outcomes. 
  • Risk Management: Identify architectural risks and propose mitigation strategies to manage potential impacts on projects and initiatives. 
  • Portfolio Management: Manage the portfolio of "as is" and "to be" solutions, ensuring they are documented and communicated effectively. 
  • Technology Selection: Provide architectural expertise during the identification, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology solutions.
  • Consultation: Act as a consultant on a broad spectrum of technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings, providing expert advice to drive targeted business outcomes. 
  • Trend Monitoring: Monitor and analyze emerging technology trends, disruptions, and their potential impact on business and operational models. 
  • Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning through workshops, training sessions, and review meetings.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of architectural decisions, designs, and analyses. 
  • Status Reporting: Prepare and present regular status reports on architectural initiatives and progress to senior management.

Requirements: 

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
  • A minimum of three years of specialized experience in solution architecture, with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, robust, and secure architectures. 
  • Experience in the insurance industry is desired, with workers' compensation experience as a plus.
  • Deep understanding of AWS or Azure cloud services, including architecture design, deployment, and management. Related certification is a major plus.
  • Proficiency in modern software development practices, including microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), API management, networking, storage, and security.
  • Proficient in database design and management using SQL and other relational and non-relational database technologies.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and Infrastructure as Code using tools like Azure DevOps or similar.
  • Proven ability to design and implement robust, scalable, and secure solution architectures that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Expertise in creating detailed technical designs, including system diagrams, data flow diagrams, and architectural blueprints. 
  • Ability to present architectural designs and strategies to executive leadership, securing their buy-in. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, with ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
