Design Systems Lead
As the Design System Lead at Melio, you will play a pivotal role in molding our design system into a robust framework that underpins all our product experiences. We aim to equip our designers, engineers, and product teams with the tools to consistently and efficiently create exceptional products. Your commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible, and user-friendly experiences will shine as you champion the design system throughout Melio. 

You will be instrumental in setting the standards for UI components, interaction patterns, and visual design. This includes taking ownership of the documentation and the overall design language. You will drive the system's vision and lead the charge in integrating design systems within our organization.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in leading complex design systems 
  • Minimum 8 years in end-to-end product design (UX/UI), including leadership roles in product companies.
  • A strong design point-of-view and a high level of comfort with opposing opinions
  • Experience creating a strategy and vision to move our design system to the next level. 
  • Experience in developing  tools and processes for designers and engineers to engage with the design system
  • Experience in knowledge sharing and educating designers on how to use it in a profound way that will constantly improve their work
  • Excellent communication skills - you can clearly articulate your team’s design strategy and planning so it aligns with the company’s objectives
  • Experience conducting and facilitating practical design research, design sprints & ideation sessions, and mentoring the team on these practices
  • Demonstrated experience in building and shipping applications or software (mobile/web)
  • Strong problem-solving, fast-learning, people’s person, leadership skills

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance our design system to ensure a uniform user experience across platforms.
  • Create and refine reusable UI components, patterns, and libraries to boost productivity and ensure design consistency.
  • Partner with product designers, developers, and stakeholders to incorporate the design system into projects, aligning with brand standards and project objectives.
  • Produce and update comprehensive documentation and guidelines for the design system, including best practices and usage instructions.
  • Define and prioritize the vision and requirements for the design system roadmap.
  • Guide teams on best practices for developing and maintaining design systems, offering training and support to maximize practical usage.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies to continually enhance the design system and influence the overall design strategy.
  • Evaluate the usability and accessibility of completed designs through reviews, user research, and product assessments.
  • Promote the design system among stakeholders, ensuring it is valued, adopted, and continuously improved by team contributions.
  • Create and manage information architectures and navigation within documentation sites and across different system components.

We're a team of creative conceptual thinkers with a strong grasp of graphic principles. Our team is artistically talented, pays close attention to detail and aesthetics, and knows how to create beautiful, interactive designs. We design and create visual materials, including the website, blog visuals, sales decks, online campaigns, social media content, infographics, landing pages, collateral, and employee branding assets.
