The company is a leading telehealth provider of behavioral health care services based in Middletown, CT. We provide world-class clinicians to patients, virtually, in long term care facilities who wouldn't otherwise have physical access to specialized care. The Medical Billing Coordinator will need to be an independent worker, detail-oriented, and have a sense of urgency. Additionally, they will have strong organizational habits and must have the ability to meet critical deadlines. The Medical Billing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing billing and collections. MediTelecare uses an outsourced vendor for its billing. This position would work closely with our vendor to minimize bad debt, improve cash flow, and manage accounts receivable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Analyze collection trends and identify opportunities for improving collection rates
Oversee revenue cycle including billing, coding, collections, denial management, and cash posting
Follow up on unpaid claims and manage denials or appeals process with outsourced billing vendor
Obtain authorizations and verify patient eligibility
Evaluate billing processes and procedures and make process improvements
Maintain insurance portal logins
Respond to requests from insurance companies, patients and their families
Ensure legal compliance with billing practices
Exemplify professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct
Other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
6 years or more of previous experience in the healthcare industry
Demonstrated understanding of the medical billing process, insurance eligibility verification process, preauthorization process, and credentialing process
Knowledge of Medical Coding
Experience with any medical billing or practice management software
Intermediate to expert level skills in MS Office and MS Outlook
Bachelor’s degree in related healthcare field or equivalent experience
