We are looking for a Director, Strategic Planning to join our growing Research & Strategy team. In this role, you will gather and interpret behavioral, conversation and trend research to develop strategies, insights and communication ideas for health clients. You are the catalyst who can generate action, create behavior-changing experiences and drive simplicity in the complex world of reaching healthcare audiences - from patients to doctors to healthcare policy makers and more.
We are looking for someone with a strong background in health marketing; with a passion for research, planning and creative strategy building. This person is detail-oriented, a creative thinker and a problem solver who serves as a trusted advisor both internally and externally. You use curiosity, empathy and intellect to synthesize various sources of information to identify the most important problems that need to be solved and communicate insights in a way that inspires breakthrough creativity and meaningful impact.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Develop a deep understanding of and POV on a brand’s or industry’s competitive space, category or industry innovation and cultural relevance
- Deep experience across a variety of research and analytics methodologies, primarily focused on secondary market research, trend report analysis, social listening analytics
- Skilled with quantitative research (survey writing and analysis), qualitative research (interviews, focus groups, etc.) and measurement techniques
- Experience working with research vendors and using research tools to derive actionable insights (e.g. Symplur, Talkwalker, GFK MRI, Helixa, ComScore, Netbase Quid, Google Analytics, Survey Monkey/Google Survey, Trend Reports, Quantitative Survey Vendors, Focus Group, Interviews, etc or similar tools)
- Partner with research and strategy teams to create compelling reports with insights that allow clients to easily evaluate social listening topics, competitor activity, media trends and digital analytics
- Comfort working with agile approaches to research and interested in experimenting with AI and new tools
- See and understand the big picture and add value by translating insights into strategic communication plans
- Drive continuous evolution of the work to reflect trends in the broader landscape and respond to changing client needs
- Nurture and grow our clients’ brands through continued campaign support
- Support thought leadership activities that deepen the agency’s reputation as health communications leader
- Inspire bigger thinking, expanding the kind of work we do with them to achieve more creative, modern and integrated programs
- Support new business efforts, proactively contributing to growth of clients through innovative and value-added ideas that clients buy
- Set goals, align upon KPIs and strategize to achieve success
Experience
- Approximately 5-9 years of agency or related experience in a research, strategy or account planning capacity
- Experience in health – government, non-profit, medical, or pharmaceutical, familiarity with health science, policy, advocacy, and/or regulatory environments
- Experience in conducting primary and secondary research, insight creation, strategy development, with a foundational understanding of search and social media
- Experience developing and implementing effective strategies grounded in business, audience and cultural insights
- Knowledge of trend spotting, multicultural media, and cultural implications that will impact storytelling
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with proven effectiveness driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes
- Stellar communication, writing, and presentation skills
- Self-starter, collaborative, solution-oriented, and an agent of change

- Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000
