Job Summary
The Quality Support Fleet Engineer is responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of deployed autonomous vehicle fleets by providing technical expertise and quality assurance. This role focuses on triaging fleet issues, analyzing data to identify systemic problems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive resolution. The engineer ensures field operations meet safety and quality standards, implements corrective and preventive actions, and supports continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as a first line of defense against urgent fleet issues by assisting remote site operations teams via simple troubleshooting and debugging, as well as facilitating issue triaging and escalating when necessary
- Own issues until resolution utilizing cross departmental support
- Investigate reported fleet issues for root cause, track and categorize common issues, trend failures, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Ensure issues and associated resolutions are documented appropriately within the Fleet database
- Provide ongoing assistance with the day-to-day technical aspects of remote site operations, such as software and change rollout, vehicle data management, and issue resolution
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
Success in this role typically requires the following competencies:
- Ability to interpret engineering documents, including CAD drawings and wiring diagrams
- Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience operating and debugging complex electro-mechanical systems
- Ability to compose technical documentation such as how-to and debugging guides
- Capability to engage in real-time remote product support
- Comfortable continuously learning new softwares and workflows
- Ability to quickly prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed, including working weekends, holidays and shift-based schedules
- Ability to work PST to support international customers
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or commensurate quality experience
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Ability to undergo driving record check
Desirable
- Work experience in quality or manufacturing engineering
- Previous product customer service experience
- Previous experience with troubleshooting Autonomous Vehicles Systems
- Ability to read/debug code in one or more of the following: C++, Python, Shell, JavaScript
- Familiarity with using and troubleshooting Linux

Salary Range posted is based on Michigan based candidates and will vary depending on location of candidate.
