A new and exciting opportunity is available for a Paralegal to support the Maven London Legal team on a wide variety of legal matters. 

This is an excellent role for ambitious and dedicated legal professionals who wish to develop with the firm’s explosive growth, working in a fast-paced and rewarding environment and be trained by a highly capable and collaborative team

Reporting to our London Legal Counsel, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with our Traders, Compliance, HR, Tax, Finance, Compliance, and Operations teams and gain exposure to Maven’s different business areas. 

This is a permanent position with the opportunity to develop depending on your abilities and the business needs. Remuneration comprises of an annual base salary plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus.

WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO:

  • Assisting the London Legal team with day-to-day legal queries (including but not limited to reviewing commercial contracts, responding to employment queries and assisting with general corporate matters, as required).
  • Taking initiatives in developing new processes and improving current processes to streamline the Legal team's response, increase efficiency, and support collaboration within the team
  • Obtaining and maintaining an excellent understanding of the organisation and the products with a focus on regulations and laws in various jurisdictions.
  • Representing the Legal team in projects and transactions as required. 
  • Initiating, planning, prioritising and managing work activities and projects effectively.
  • Regularly communicating with your line manager and providing updates in team meetings on progress.
  • General legal and administration support (including but not limited to filing, execution of contracts, renewals of certified documents)
  • Collaborating with other teams and outside counsel when appropriate. 
  • Complying with all applicable compliance policies, procedures, laws, and regulations

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • High level of integrity and ethical standards;
  • A bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the legal sector (private practice or in-house) with a focus on the financial services industry is preferable;
  • An appetite to learn quickly on the job;
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and drafting skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to develop constructive professional relationships across the business;
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills;
  • Ability to work on own initiative, independently and to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work on own initiative, be creative and to tight deadlines; &
  • Self-motivated and team player.
