We are looking for a recently qualified accountant to help us scale up as Maven expands and becomes more complex. You will be responsible for a handful of UK entities, overseeing everything from balance sheet control to preparation of statutory accounts. You will also be involved in Finance transformation projects, help to improve processes throughout the team, and help to train and mentor graduate trainees.
Our Finance Team is rapidly expanding, but retains a collegial and close-knit culture. Maven has a strong commitment to learning and development, and within Finance this may include, amongst other things, developing technical professional skills, management training or learning to code in Python/SQL. We also encourage team members to build relationships throughout the business and understand what’s going on outside Finance.
What you're going to do:
Produce statutory financial statements for UK and Jersey group entities (including consolidated group accounts)
Maintain accounting policies and notes for complex and high risk transactions
Keep up to date with developments in IFRS
Manage and train graduate trainees and junior team members
Completion of quarterly FCA returns and semi-annual FINREP return
Identify and implement improvements within existing processes
Project management of annual audit process
Oversee balance sheets for subset of legal entities
Ad hoc project work as required
Who will you be working with:
Senior Management – drafting statutory reports with key stakeholders
Finance Team – providing input on Finance processes and systems; advising team on developments with IFRS and how to account for key transactions
Corporate Governance – working with corporate governance team on statutory disclosures
Compliance – working alongside compliance team on regulatory reports
