Maven’s Risk team is innovating the way we control and monitor the trading activities across the firm. We’re a team balanced with Risk experts and Developers, and deploy new systems regularly to partner with the business.  

As a Senior Operational Risk Manager, you’ll be responsible for day-day oversight of operational risk across the business globally as well as taking a leadership role within the risk function in Europe. This means working with colleagues in Trading, Operations, Technology, Compliance, HR, Finance and Legal to identify and mitigate operational risks proactively. As Maven continues to grow and implement new strategies, our risk monitoring needs to expand and become increasingly sophisticated. You don’t just sit behind a screen though, it’s important to get out onto the trading floor and to fully understand how Maven operates.

WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO:

  • Continual questioning of operational risk culture; is it holistic, does it suit our evolving business?
  • Leadership of the London risk team ensuring that all resources are maximised to their full potential as well as promoting regional collaboration with Asia and USA.
  • Perform investigations into operational risk incidents noted in the incident register
  • Work with all business functions to produce relevant regulatory reporting metrics
  • Assisting Global Head of Risk in preparing for monthly Operational Risk Committee
  • Project management with IT colleagues ensuring that all gaps in operational risk are covered
  • Administration of systems and exchange limits and ensuring that all systems have the correct limits to cover our operational risk as a business
  • Ad hoc deep dive risk projects

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:

  • Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Experience at a buy-side firm i.e. HFT/prop/hedge fund including exposure to managing automated controls
  • Technical degree i.e. BSc
  • Global remit of operational risk with regional risk analysts/managers executing methodologies
  • Experience collaborating on development projects
  • Familiarity with complex execution trading systems
  • Coding expertise (Python)
  • Demonstrable communication skills with stakeholders at different levels of the business 
  • Keen eye for detail 
  • Report writing and presentation skills 
  • Calm under pressure
