We’re seeking a Director of Human Resources to play a key role in the Splendido community in Tucson, AZ. You will lead the Human Resources processes and will be the culture steward, enlivening the Mather culture, creating, and delivering a first-class team member experience.  The successful candidate will have a passion for serving older adults and have 5+ years of experience as a Director of Human Resources.  This role will supervise an Human Resources coordinator and partner closely with the HR team at headquarters in Evanston, IL.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Recruiting: manage selection processes and ensure a strong recruiting strategy comes to life.
  • Benefits: local annual benefits enrollment, billing/reconciliations, on-going Q&A, FMLA/LOA processing, and compliance.
  • Engagement: focus on internal communication, facilitate action plan meetings, focus on actions that create a great place to work, develop annual engagement calendar (recognition, events).
  • Performance Management: ensure on-going performance “feed forward” is provided to all team members.
  • Learning & Development: facilitate a great onboarding experience, facilitate on-going leadership programs including “Ways to Manage Well,” facilitate selection process for leadership programs, ensure compliance with national and state/local training requirements, be a champion of daily stand-ups, ensure they are “nextraordinary” and are a part of the everyday culture in the community.
  • Development: monitor Development Plans for all managers.
  • Total Rewards: partner with finance and VP & GM on offer preparation, ensure a total rewards package that is locally competitive and attractive, enliven on-going team member recognition.
  • Positive work environment: triage team member relations concerns, maintain an on-going “listening strategy.”
  • Health & Safety: partner with all experience center leads to deliver a safe working environment.
  • Compliance: ensure compliance with federal and state labor law, (EEO, wage & hour, regulatory agencies), maintain a consistent approach to records management, with the highest degree of confidentiality (HR/payroll system/employee files), partner with payroll administrator to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Promote regular two-way feedforward and teamwork in all areas.
  • Provide input to the annual business strategy; develop the annual HR local strategy and budget.
  • Be a Mather ambassador in the local community.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required:

  • Minimum five years of experience as Director of Human Resources, with progressive leadership responsibility
  • Experience in hospitality, healthcare, and/or life plan communities, as the on-property leader of Human Resources
  • Proven track record in delivering a great team member experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A detailed and up-to-date understanding of federal AZ state and local Labor laws
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office); ability to work with spreadsheets, develop and maintain documents, and develop presentations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and deliver presentations to large groups
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
