Position Summary:

Manages community engagement across the Life Plan community continuum as part of a team of wellness and engagement professionals who facilitate a variety of programs, events, partnerships and more.  Key areas of managerial responsibility include ownership of community calendar development and communications, ensuring high resident engagement with diverse programs & outings, resident committees, family engagement, volunteer management, community-wide engagement budgets, independent contractors/partnerships, and outcomes measurement.

This position reports to the Director of Repriorment and will oversee the Engagement Coordinators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages calendar development across the continuum: ensuring that calendars support residents’ wellness needs and interests in all venues within spheres of Health and Wellbeing, Arts and Culture, and Lifelong Learning. Ensures events across the continuum are integrated into organized & accessible calendars to be communicated with residents, families, and employees.
  • Ownership of resident communications and technology (signage, updates, resident portal, resident committees, a/v utilization) in printed, digital, and in-person delivery methods. Accountable for alignment with brand standards in all community and resident communications. Oversees delivery of resident portals.
  • Ensures high levels of resident engagement with meaningful programming across the continuum, via performance managing community engagement team and ensuring design and facilitation of high quality resident experiences.
  • Ensures adherence to state and federal regulations for Life Center programs & Mather Culture of Creativity & Creating My Possibilities (CMP) guidelines via management of Life Center engagement specialists. Maintains frequent communication with Life Center Administrator. Provides employee development in best practices for individual and group experiences, signature programs, etc.
  • Manages engagement budget & independent contractor contracts/billing for entire continuum. Identifies high quality contractors/partnerships to enhance resident engagement and wellbeing. Ensures all contractor-led programs adhere to Mather policies and align with brand standards via orientation and auditing.
  • Maintains strong relationships with residents and family members including coordination of/representation in resident committees and resident councils across the continuum. Identifies ways to engage with residents and families regularly to seek input and feedforward. Supports Resident Engagement Director in gathering resident satisfaction and engagement data.
  • Manages community volunteer program: Provides volunteer orientation, scheduling, and ongoing guidance for Mather resident volunteers across the continuum. Responsible for compliance with all Federal, State and Mather volunteer policies and procedures
  • Participates in strategic planning with Resident Engagement Director, and HQ leadership to develop programs driven by Mather brand standards for resident engagement and wellness. Ensures successful delivery of Signature Programs within community.
  • Participates in community Creating My Possibilities Champions team, ensuring implementation of strengths-based experiences for residents living with dementia, participating in CMP Champions team as a co-trainer facilitating workshops.
  • Oversees monitoring/auditing program delivery and outcomes: including amenity spaces and engagement and satisfaction measurements across the continuum. Shares findings and identifies strategies to build on community engagement strengths and improve identified areas.

Secondary Functions:

  • Creates relationships based on respect, using a customer-focused approach to problem solving, maintaining a courteous and professional manner through interactions with others.  Communicates with key staff, residents and families in a timely manner.
  • Reports incidents, ensures compliance with safety and risk management for engagement staff
  • Attends in-services and committee meetings. Participates in QAPI processes regarding resident engagement.
  • Complies with Mather Code of Conduct, Policies, Compliance Program, and all applicable laws and regulations in performance of one’s job duties; reports all known and suspected violations to his/her supervisor or manager, Mather Compliance officer, a Human Resources representative, or the confidential employee helpline.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the company Mission, Core Values, and EMI philosophy. 
  • Uses discretion in handling confidential information, incorporating all Federal, State and local privacy and confidentiality requirements. Ensures Mather consent protocols are followed across continuum for resident content.
  • Provides input for all relevant human resource functions; assists with interviewing and training employees, independent contractors, interns and volunteers in order to create high quality programming.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required:

  • College Degree or greater in Recreation Therapy, Hospitality, Geriatrics, Psychology or related field, or 5+ years related Senior Living experience.
  • Experience designing programs across full continuum (Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Memory Support.)
  • Excellent customer service and managerial skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive, engaging, and collaborative attitude, strong listening skills, public speaking, and strong 1:1 and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to lead by example. Strong time management and organization skills. Self-initiator requiring minimum supervision.
  • Ability to use or learn a variety of tech-based services and platforms.
  • Knowledge of activities that support holistic wellness

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree in Recreation Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Geriatrics, or related field.
  • Direct experience facilitating health and wellbeing, arts and culture, or lifelong learning programs.
  • Experience with care plan/MDS documentation and state/federal regulations pertaining to Medicare/LTC.
  • Proficiency in MS Publisher, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel and PCC or other related EMR and demonstrated proficiency at documenting to meet regulatory compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing partnerships, designing intergenerational experiences, and overseeing independent contractors and volunteers.
  • 36 / 42 Hour Activity Director Course completion and Activity Director certification.
  • Previous experience leading and providing daily supervision and professional development for a team of 2-3 employees
